Welcome to our Terrific Tigers group! This is the year for our learners to shine brightly in our classroom. It will be a year of magical wonder and amazing growth for your little stars. We are looking forward to working with you and your child as we teach them to reach for the stars. We believe that communication is the key to your child´s success and to have a great parent/teacher relationship. I encourge you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns at any time. We will also do our part by sending pictures and comments of our daily activities, as well as sending you all a weekly post with interesting information.. Mrs. Martha and I are looking forward to our preschool adventure school year with your child and family, and to many happy days together!
During their first week of school, we’re happy to inform that all the tigers have adapted well to their new “green” classroom. Your little ones did not cry much…in fact, most of them did no cry at all. We were able to go straight into teaching them on how to express themselves with confidence. They are learning the colors, letter sounds, and numbers. We also have taught them about feelings and expressions, which you may get to see a lot of at home. We feel that, overall, the feeling in the classroom has been HAPPY. We plan to do our very best in keeping it that way throughout the school year.
We talked about Sesame Street and their characters during this week. They have enjoyed listening to music and stories related to this topic. They anticipate playing with the plush characters they have been seeing during the mornings. Our characters for this week have been Elmo, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, and the Count!
In Creativity class they have been busy working on making puppets using brown paper bags. Colors, such as red, yellow, blue, and green have been used during their projects. They are learning very nicely to wear their smocks before handling paint!
A new activity for them, done in Terrific Tigers, is Cooperative Play, where they work as a group, learning to take turns and sharing their material. They have enjoyed this part of the day very much. Being “the leader” is new for them this school year as well. Whenever your child is the leader, you will know since he/she will have a special sticker placed on their shirts, which says: LEADER.
We also had a birthday celebration this week. David Elizondo was a happy “SUPER KID” which was celebrated on August 17th. Thank you, Mrs. Sofía for the lovely cupcakes!
We would like to welcome our new student Eva Garza Sanchez, and her mom, Erika. We are sure you will feel very comfortable and enjoy being part of our Toddler Tree community!
Our themes for next week include talking about themselves, such as knowing what their name is, what they like to do, who their friends are, and talking about the parts of the day during their school hours, as well as learning to play together.
This has been a very fun and busy week for all of us and we have enjoyed it very much! We would like to remind you, to please send a complete change of clothes for your child. It is very possible that your child might be needing a change of clothes one day. For those of you who have already sent it, we really appreciate it! Our Open House is comming up shortly. We will be sending you the date and the time promptly.
Best regards, Mrs. Martha & Mrs. Nancy Murillo.
