Valentines Week!

This week our Terrific Tigers enjoyed a lovely valentines day party on Tuesday! Further on in the week we reviewed all the types of community helpers as well as started to cover some of the means of transportation. Transportation included, air, water and land, such as airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons, rockets, cruise ships, boats, sailboats, cars, buses, motorcycles, fire engines, etc.  They are now very aware of the community helpers and can name and identify them. We reviewed the police officer, mail man, doctor, dentist, teacher, garbage collector, firefighter and baker. Never the less the highlight for the kids was most definitely their valentines party were they got to exchange their candy and valentines with one another!

The kids really enjoyed their art projects painting with sponges and stamps! They made a valentine for their parents, a mouth out of apple slices, peanut butter and marshmallows as well as worked on their letter of the week U which they transformed into a Unicorn.

During our community helper centers on Friday we hosted the baker theme in our classroom! We made molletes with bread, beans and cheese and baked them in the oven! Most of the kids were so excited to see them come out from the oven with the cheese melted that they  ate them right then and there! In the other stations our tigers enjoyed stamping and personalizing letters for their parents. Mr. Mike hosted a fire station in the gym and the tiny turtles hosted a beauty salon and barber shop where they got to practice “shaving” each other with foam and tongue suppressors as well as pretend to cut hair and some of the girls got their nails painted!

During story time they were happy to hear the stories of the books such as: Fisher Price, My Little People Busy Town; Away We Go!; The Wheels on the Bus; Dora´s What Will I Be?; Noisy Helpers; Trains, Boats, and Planes (Elmo´s Book); and Little People´s Cars,Trucks, Planes and Trains.

During Physical Development the kids really enjoyed an obstacle course we set up for them to imagine they are traveling by plane, by boat, and by train. They went up a ramp as if taking off, then crossed a bridge, jumped into a row boat, then jumped out of the boat, and went through a tunnel shouting out “Choo-Choo!”

We look forward to teaching the kids all about more means of transportation next week and reviewing one last time our community helpers!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend with your lovely family!
