September: Me and My family!

We hope you enjoy celebrating Independence Day and this long weekend, we are surely going to miss your children! This week our main topic was “Me and My Family”. Here are some fun activities we did during the week: Students identified their family members with the pictures of their personal boxes, they enjoyed to see their loved ones and show their classmates their photos. Children had fun role-playing using family puppets; they tried to identify the different members of a family: grandma, grandpa, mother, father, baby, sister, brother. Our Tiny Turtles had a blast using play dough and cookie cutters boy and girl, and stars with different sizes, from big to small to resemble a family.

Kids really enjoyed their creativity class, they made “paper plates feelings” using pom-poms as a nose, stickers for the eyes, and pipe cleaners for the mouth. Every paper plate represented a different feeling (laughing, sleepy, happy, angry, sad, sick, surprised). We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make a Mexican flag, after all our Independence Day is just around the corner! Tiny turtles used different techniques and materials, like glue, glitter, paint and textured paper etc.

This week’s vocabulary words were: Mexican flag, red, white, green, family, mom, dad, brother, sister, baby, grandma, grandpa.

Our topics for next week will be: House, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room, dining room.
