Keeping Warm in Winter

This week we covered many fun winter topics, from winter sports to winter clothing. We kicked the week off with some interesting exploration activities. The kids got to enjoy feeling the cold ice in a bowl. We filled some latex gloves with water, and froze them so the kids could feel the “cold hands.” The Tiny Turtles also got to explore different textures and gadgets on a sensory board.

During creativity, the Turtles finished their penguins so they could take them home. The second half of the week, the kids learned about mittens, and made some cool looking mittens with a handprint on them.

In Physical Development, the Tiny Turtles really enjoyed dancing to songs like “The Penguin Dance”, “Boots” and “Snowflake.” They also got to climb on many cushions and go through tunnels.

On the playground, Toddler Tree added some new equipment the kids really seem to enjoy. They did a lot of climbing and sliding, and playing house.

We are looking forward to next week, when we will be preparing for Grandmother’s visit. We will also be reviewing winter, and learning about forest animals.
