Discovering The Magic of Christmas!

We have started the last and most wonderful month of the year….December!

This last week of November and first week of December we dove right into the Christmas spirit. We introduced the kids to all the famous characters like Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph.

One of the favorite exploration activities was building and decorating our very own gingerbread house!!  They had so much fun  putting the pieces together with frosting and decorating with lots of different candies!

In Creativity Class we had fun working with Christmas colors painting our very own Santa Clause, painting our Christmas Sun-catchers and personalizing our snowmen that were put up in our bulletin board!

In physical development our main focus was on practicing for the Christmas program. You may have noticed your children singing to these special Christmas tunes or even dancing at home! They have done a great job practicing and are now getting a hang of how to dance in a group!

Our vocabulary words for this week include Christmas, Santa´s toy land, Christmas tree, ornaments, star, angel, reindeer and stockings.

Our story time has included books related to this special holiday! Books that have been read to them are: Merry Christmas Boots, The First Christmas, Santa´s Toy  Shop, Little Christmas Efl, The Talking Christmas Tree, Winnie the Pooh & the Christmas Tree, The Golden Christmas Tree, The Night Before Christmas, Santa´s Sleigh, and Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer.

Cooperative Play has been lots of fun! We have been role-playing and acting out like Santa, elves, and explaining what a Christmas tree means, what the star on top of the tree ia all about and who the reindeers are and why our famous Rudolph the red nosed reindeer is so special!

Next week we will continue to talk about Christmas related vocabulary words and all the magic around this wonderful holiday!
