Busy bees… Can You See a Circle?

During this week, we have been talking about shapes, which they really enjoy. Vocabulary words such as circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, mouse, and pumpkin have been reviewed daily. It was easy for Bees to understand and learn this topic since we have been talking, singing, reading books related to it, watching videos, and drawing all shapes everyday.

Using our magic pointer was fun to have the students name the different shapes we would find in our classroom. We also played with Mr. Mike’s shapes which gave our students the opportunity to look for hidden shapes around the classroom.

Activities enjoyed by them to reinforce these concepts include: Drawing in the chalkboard different shapes, tracing them, matching the outline with the shape and writing practice using shaving cream!

For art, they practiced their fine motor skills creating a pizza using a paper plate for the crust, and gluing a circle for pepperonis, a triangle for the ham, rectangle for the cheese, squares for the peppers, and ovals for the olives. The kids had a blast putting together their pizzas with the different ingredients as well as reviewing the shapes!

Books read to them this week include titles such as: The Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin by Sanja Rescek, The Shape Detective by Angela C. Santomero, The House That Jack Haunted! By Pamela Conn Beall, Mouse´s First Halloweed by Lauren

Thompson and Five Little Pumpkins by Dan Yaccarino, they really enjoy this period of the day.

On Friday we had a super kid! We celebrated David Treviño ´s birthday, together with his parents. We sang happy birthday and eat paw patrol cupcakes.

As you can see, our busy bees have many great activities prepared for them everyday! It is a privilege to be able to be part of your child´s learning.
