Firefighters visit!!!

It was a great week for the Busy Bees, they loved reviewing all about transportation vehicles and community helpers. The vocabulary included land, air, and water transportation such as cars, motorcycles, race cars, buses, ambulance, tractors, trains, airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons, boats, ships and fire trucks. For the community helpers it included, garbage collector, pilot, doctor, dentist, teacher, and firefighters.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed the firefighters visit. Kids were paying attention to everything! The squad showed us some of the materials they use in case of a fire and at the end Bees had the opportunity to hold and use the fire hose. It was a great experience.

During Circle time, Mr. Mike role played with the kids simulating a pilot, air plane and the passengers with lots of music. Kids loved it!!

In art we worked with materials such as shaving cream, glitter, glue and paint, water sprayer, markers and crayons. Our students liked painting their firefighters helmet as well as gluing cotton for the clouds on the airplane project.

During exploration we had a great experiment using water, vegetable oil, food coloring, and alka seltzer. The kids were all focused on the procedure.

Finally for story time we read some books about transportation which they really enjoyed: “Book on the Go“, “The Wheel on the Bus“, “Vroom, Things that Go“, “Fire Engine“ and “Trains, Boats, and Planes“. Afterwards we played with some props and toys related to the books.

It was a fun week full on new learning experiences!.

Transportation Week

Hello parents! This week we had a lot of fun with the Crawling Caterpillars learning about transportation. During manipulatives, they enjoyed playing with cars, trains and solving transportation puzzles. They also enjoyed singing “Flying in an Airplane”, “The Wheels on the Bus”, “Row Row Row Your Boat” and “Buckle Up My Seat Belt”. During physical development our students learned to make bicycle movements with their legs while lying on their backs. They enjoyed acting like an airplane pilot, too. On Wednesday, we had a special visit from the fire department. We all loved watching the firefighters and hearing the truck’s siren. During creativity class we made fun firefighter helmets, yummy traffic lights, and played with shaving cream and toy cars.

Next week the children will learn about space and rockets. We will have a special visit next Wednesday from the rescue team and we will also finish reviewing community helpers and transportation.

Sound the Alarm!

This week’s community helper visit were firefighters! On Wednesday a team of firefighters visited kinder and the children were super excited to see them and their fire truck. We took some nice pictures for you to see on our facebook page.

Exploration time was filled with all sorts of fun activities, like playing with transportation toys, transportation puzzles and role playing like firefighters with a collapsible fire truck and “hoses”.

Tiny turtles had a blast in creativity time, too! So much to do! They painted with cars making paint tracks on roads that were drawn on paper. Also, they used sponges and red paint for a fireman helmet. We made fire flames as an experiment using red, yellow and orange tissue paper and water. On Thursday kiddos made a hot air balloon with a paper plate and they pressed stamps using corks. Finally, today we made traffic lights with cookies, frosting and m&ms. Turtles really enjoyed it and had so much fun!

This week kids were full of energy, more than usual if that’s even possible! So we tried to remain very active during physical development pretending to be airplanes and arranging chairs like an airplane.

Air, Water & Land Transportation!

This week our Terrific Tigers enjoyed reviewing  all the types of transportation as well as community helpers. Transportation included, air, water and land, such as airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons, rockets, cruise ships, boats, sailboats, cars, buses, motorcycles, fire engines, etc.  They are now very aware of the community helpers and can name and identify them. We reviewed the police officer, mail carrier, doctor, dentist, teacher, garbage collector, firefighter and baker.

The highlight of the week for our little ones was our visit from the Firefighters! The kids really enjoyed the visit as they got to see the fire truck and watched Miss Marifer dress up as a firefighter!  Some of our toddlers wanted to dress up as well, and they got the opportunity to wear these special outfits! The most exciting moment was probably when the kids got to spray water with the fire hose and hear the different sirens the firetruck makes!

During story time they were happy to hear the stories of the books such as: Fisher Price, My Little Pepole Busy Town; Away We Go!; The Wheels on the Bus; Dora´s What Will I Be?; Noisy Helpers; Trains, Boats, and Planes (Elmo´s Book); and Little People´s Cars,Trucks, Planes and Trains.

During Physical Development the kids really enjoyed an obstacle course we set up for them to imagine they are traveling by plane, by boat, and by train. They went up a ramp as if taking off, then crossed a bridge, jumped into a row boat, then jumped out of the boat, and went through a tunnel shouting out “Choo-Choo!”. We also got to experience jumping in an inflatable boat and pretend to be rowing while singing “Row Row Row Your Boat”.

Brush, Brush, Brush Your Teeth…

Busy Bees had so much fun this week full of surprises! They enjoyed learning about community helpers such as, dentist, doctor, nurse and mailman.

During exploration Bees loved playing with the doctors kit. We explained who the doctor and the nurse are as well as what they do, and they all role played being doctor and patient.

In creativity students had the opportunity to play with envelopes and stamps for Valentine’s. They also worked with toothbrushes, so they could have the experience of knowing how to clean teeth, for this activity we used markers and toothbrushes.

The dentist visit was one of our highlights!! They were all very focused listening and paying attention. The dentists showed our kids the right way to brush their teeth and using a big toothbrush some of our Busy Bees participated helping the dentist brushing plastic teeth.

Another highlight was the Valentines Day Party. Bees had a blast! First we started the day exchanging valentine’s sweets, and they had a great time. After that we broke the piñata and finally we ate lunch and had cupcakes.

For story time we used puppets and props. We read some books this week such as: Elmo’s World Space, My Little Doctor Bag Book, and What is Valentines Day.

On Friday we celebrated Rodrigo´s birthday we sang with Mr. Mike´s accordion and enjoyed a delicious birthday cake brought by Rodrigo´s parents. It was lovely!

Valentines Week!

This week our Terrific Tigers enjoyed a lovely valentines day party on Wednesday! During the week we reviewed all the types of community helpers! They are now very aware of the community helpers and can name and identify them. We reviewed the police officer, mail man, doctor, dentist, teacher, garbage collector, firefighter and baker. Never the less the highlight for the kids was most definitely their valentines party were they got to exchange their candy and valentines with one another! Thursday was really special too because we had the dentist come visit and show us how to brush our teeth! To end the week we had a blast celebrating Aitana’s Birthday on Friday with a delicious rainbow cake!

The kids really enjoyed their art projects painting with sponges and stamps! They made a valentine for their parents, a mouth out of apple slices, peanut butter and marshmallows as well as worked finger painting with red and white which they discovered is how you make pink!

During story time they were happy to hear the stories of the books such as: Fisher Price, My Little People Busy Town; Away We Go!; The Wheels on the Bus; Dora´s What Will I Be?; From Head to Toe; and How do Dragons Say Goodnight!

We look forward to teaching the kids all about means of transportation next week with lot’s of fun activities planned out!!

Love and Friendship

February is here! A month that represents love and friendship, with lots of new vocabulary words to learn. During this month we will have several visits from community helpers such as: Police officer, mailman, firefighter, and rescue team. On Wednesday police officers visited Toddler Tree kinder and gave a brief explanation on safety and traffic signals. The kids were very excited to get in the patrol car.

This week in Exploration children enjoyed playing with construction helmets and tools, and also they played with community helpers puppets. One of this week’s topics was “baker” so today kids were all into decorating cookies. We spread frosting on their cookie and then top them off with some sprinkles.

Garbage collector was another topic on this week’s list, and turtles had a special activity. The kids got to the classroom and found lots of wrappers (playing the part of trash) laying on the floor, and everyone helped picking it up. Kiddos enjoyed and learned o put the garbage in the trashcan.

Valentine’s Day

This week the Crawling Caterpillars got to enjoy Valentine’s Day so much. We celebrated this special holiday with a fun party! Students exchanged candies and treats with their friends; they enjoyed a snack and got a visit from the mail man (Mr. Mike), who gave them a special treat. These activities helped encourage sharing and friendship.

This week, during Exploration, we had fun with the dentist. Students enjoyed playing with tooth brushes. During art class we used for the first time markers and had so much fun with them doing a heart. Then in Circle time, Mr. Mike had some of the Crawling Caterpillars role play the book “The Lady With The Alligator Purse.”

Such a fun time!

Policeman Visit!!

This was a week full of learning!!! We started the week with the police officers’ visit. They gave our students a presentation about safety and traffic and everyone was very focused. Bees really enjoyed it as they got to see the police car and listen to the different sirens and sounds. Some of our toddlers were so exited they wore a police hat we made in art class!

During our creativity sessions, we had a great time pretending to be chefs by decorating a cookie with some delicious icing and rainbow sprinkles. We also created a police hat using, glue, paint, plates and crayons.

In Physical Development we also enjoyed acting out the song “Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Police car.”

Books read this week include: My little People Busy Town, What´s in Oscar´s Trash Can?, and Elmo´s Valentines.

Finally we would like to congratulate big brother Hermann, for his new baby sister. He really enjoyed the moment when he had a crown made just for him.

We hope Busy Bees have great memories of these experiences.

Mr. Policeman

Valentine´s Day celebration is coming up on Wednesday February 14th!! The Party Hosts will provide snacks, so instead of sending a lunchbox on that day, please just send a water thermos or juice.

The kids will exchange Valentines with their friends, we have 12 students in our Tiny Turtles class so make sure to send a bag for your child to collect candy. If you would like to send a special treat for your child’s classmates, don’t forget to label only who it’s from, so we make it easier for the kids to pass out.
