Crawling Caterpillars Adapting To School

Hello Parents! This week we had a great time! Our students have been adapting to their classroom and are beginning to make new friends. This week most little ones stopped crying and started enjoying our daily routine. We started learning new songs, and concepts such as the days of the week, the months of the year, the weather, the numbers and the alphabet. This week we reviewed the winter season and are looking forward to closing the winter theme to start with Love, Friendship and Community helpers. Overall, we feel proud about having so much fun and learning many new things! Hope to see you all on Monday.

January Week 4

Our sincere thanks to all our dearest grandmothers who visited the Big Bears class at Toddler Tree. It was such a pleasure to have them! Our students were delighted. They performed their very best with all their love. We truly appreciated the grandmas’ enthusiastic work on the projects, too. It was a unique and unforgettable experience for all of us!

Please listen to your child while he/she recites the rhyme we dedicated to grandma:

“I have a special grandma/grandpa

Snowman rhyme

Snowman Snowman
Round and white
I wonder what
You do at night
Snowman snowman
Lets have fun
before you melt
in the sun.

Grandma, grandpa
Grandma, grandpa
i love you,i love you
You are very special
You are very special
Yes you are
Yes you are

Next week Big Bears will start learning about several community helpers. As a group we will be able to learn about the different activities each one does in our community. Toddler Tree will have visits from the San Pedro police officers, firefighters, mailman and rescue team. Our Big Bears will have the chance to experience and meet them.

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Keeping Warm with our Winter Clothes

Tiny turtles learned all about winter clothing this week, and we had special activities designed for them, in which they played and learned at the same time.

During Exploration, our little ones had fun dressing up using winter clothes like: scarf, jacket, mittens, and winter cap. This activity allowed them to learn the concepts of the week while reviewing body parts.

The concepts were all related to winter clothing and in our Creativity department we incorporated some fun activities to review our weekly theme. Turtles had a blast using water colors for the first time. We painted a mitten and pasted pompoms. Everyday kids are more interested in new activities and textures. We are very proud of them!

Have a nice weekend!

Winter Clothing!

During this week we have been talking about winter clothes. Vocabulary words learned during this topic: shoes, boots, coat, jacket, mittens, gloves, cap, hat, sweater, socks. The kids were very aware of these words since they are very familiar with them right now. We also reviewed colors when talking about their winter clothing.  One fun activity for them was to name the items and dress up a big teddy bear with winter clothes. They loved to trying them on too!

Creativity Class was also exciting! They worked on several projects, such as making a winter tree, placing winter clothing on a human figure and creating and playing with artificial “snow”!

Story Time has become a nice part of their routine and it is wonderful to see how our Terrific Tigers remain seated during the entire story when it is being read to them! Stories this week included: Avalanche, Barney Gear Gets Dressed, Snow, What Will You Wear, Claude?, and The Snowy Day.

During Cooperative Play our kids were asked to identify winter clothing and it was interesting to see how they were able to identify the words, name the object they had, such as boots, rain boots, jackets, mittens, gloves, cap and hat! Everyone preferred to wear a cap! We also dressed up stuffed animals in winter clothing and matched mitten and sock pairs!

Next week will be very special as we will have our annual grandmothers day celebration on Wednesday! Your little ones will get to come to kinder with their grandmothers to work together on a special project with them and have some tea!

Topics next week will include talking about different kind of animals (winter animals and forest animals as well).

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

My Winter Clothes

Hello Everyone!

During this week we were excited to welcome a new member to our Busy Bees family, Thomas Elfmont. All together the kids have been enjoying and learning new things!

We have been talking about winter clothes. Vocabulary words such as shoes, boots, coat, jacket, mittens, gloves, cap, hat, sweater, scarf and socks. They all learned the vocabulary fast, since we have been playing during different activities where they have to name the items and dress up a teddy bear with winter clothes. They also had to dress up a mannequin one by one taking turns.

Activities that reinforced these concepts included: Painting a mitten with watercolors, pasting pompoms and stamping a paper scarf.

Most of our students really enjoy story time and remain seated and attentive during the entire story when it is being read to them! Stories this week included: Avalanche, Barney Gear Gets Dressed, Snow, What Will You Wear, Claude? and The Ice Age.

During Cooperative Play our kids worked on color matching. They toook turns inserting tongue depressors into a bottle and did a great job.

Our theme for next week include, winter animals.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

January snow!!

We are very excited to welcome all our Busy Bees! We are greatly looking forward to keep working and having lots of fun. During this week we were excited to welcome two new members to our Bees family, Rorro Elizondo and Hermann Reimers! They quickly adapted to the group and all together they have thoroughly been enjoying their time together!

They have been having a lot of fun learning about the winter and winter sports. Vocabulary words learned during this topic: snow, snowman, snowflake, hot, cold, sledding, skiing and skating.

One fun activity for them was to make fake snow. They also had so much fun playing with the ice plate. Plastic toys would ski down the hill.

In Creativity they have been busy practicing different art elements such as stamping with corks, painting with brushes, drawing with crayons, pasting little papers and manipulating play dough. We also work on a melting snowman using paint, and glue. They did a great job!

During story time we try hot chocolate. Story Time has become a nice part of their routine and it is wonderful to see how most of the Busy bees remain seated during the entire story when it is being read to them! They enjoy it so much because we always try to make it dynamic. Stories this week included: Snow, The Snowy Day, Frosty The Snowman, Polar bear and The laughing Snowman.

A new activity for them, done in Busy Bees, is Cooperative Play, where they work as a group, learning to take turns and sharing their material.

Our theme for next week include, winter clothes.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Tiny Turtles parents

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday, and that you enjoyed spending time with your loved ones on such special days. On this new year 2018 we want to wish you all the best, health, blessings and love for your families.

We are so happy to see our tiny turtles! Miss Mariana and I missed them very much. We’re still missing some of them, but hope to see everybody back on Monday.

In our creativity class turtles enjoyed making a hot chocolate and ice-cream, reviewing hot and cold. They used sponges with blue and red paint. Also this week they use foam un blue paint and they were very exited with this texture! Turtles are more into it every day.

Welcome Back to Toddler Tree, Tigers!

After having spent so much enjoyable time with family and friends, our students came back to school this week. We have started this new month and the new 2018 year with the introduction of winter: vocabulary words used this week included snow, snowman, & snowflake. We also talked about things that are cold and reviewed the seasons changing: winter, spring, summer & fall. Finally, on Friday we talked about winter fun, and all the sports and activities that can be done in the snow!

During Creativity Class they worked on  a melted snowman made on a blue canvas, using finger paint and our hands! One by one they helped placing the final details on their project such as the nose, eyes, arms, a scarf ! We also used china paper and water to create the image of a winters night sky and dripped white paint on them to simulate snow!

Physical Education class has been also related to winter and they sang and danced to music that talked about winter!

This week we began incorporating story time yoga! Our tigers love it as it lets them delve further into the book and become a part of the story! Stories read to them this week included “Are you Ready for Winter?” “Ben and the Cold”, “Around the Year”, and Bear Went over the Mountain” and “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do You Hear?”.

We have begun with the leader once more, and they have been more than excited to resume this wonderful activity for them to bring something special from home and share it with their friends!

Next week we will be talking about  winter clothes and winter shoes.

Ms. Maggie and I wish you all a very wonderful 2018 with many blessings for each one of our little ones and their lovely families!

Welcome Caterpillars!

Dear Parents,

My name is Debbie, the head teacher for the Crawling Caterpillars class. I will be working with Miss Martha and Miss Steph in welcoming your children to Toddler Tree! This is a time of new beginnings, making friends, and learning lots of new things for your little ones. Every day they are going to be involved in new experiences and we hope to provide a variety of opportunities for learning and growing. In search of promoting self-sufficiency among these youngsters, our focus aside from the cognitive aspect of our curriculum will be developing social, emotional, and physical skills. Thank you for entrusting your child to us. We are looking forward to a wonderful semester!

Please ask to join our private Facebook group 2018 Crawling Caterpillars for current classroom information and daily photos.
