February Week 3/4

Big Bears had a week full of excitement! They reviewed the different types of transportation: land, air, and water. The kids were able to express which was their favorite vehicle and enjoyed every single moment pretending to ride them.

Our students also learned how important our community helpers are and what each one does so we can be happier. On Wednesday the “Rescue Team” visited Toddler Tree. We were very excited to see what they have and do to help us in case of an emergency, and the kids learned how to dial 911.

They were amazed to role-play a trip to space and now know what an astronaut is, how he/she floats in space wearing a special suit and tank. Big Bears understand we live on planet “Earth” and characteristics of other planets. Check out how yor child recites the following rhyme:

“Zoom, zoom, zoom”

We are going to the moon

Zoom, zoom, zoom

We´ll get there very soon

Bye Bye, Community Helpers Hello Spring

This week’s community helper was the rescue team, and on Wednesday they came to kinder and children were super excited to see them. We took some nice pictures and video for you they’re on our facebook page. Also this week we say bay bye to community helpers and hello to spring.

On exploration time was filled with all sorts of fun activities, like playing with transportation boats, cars trucks, and the part that they really enjoy was playing with a box with shinny stars and planets were they can practice and know about the space.

Tiny turtles had a blast on creativity time! So much to do! To practice about the boats they enjoy making a bout with their hand prints using brown paint and then with blue paint and sponge they created ocean waves, they really enjoy using paint. On Tuesday we made moon dust mixing corn starch and vegetable oil, they really love mixing and felling the texture, we have lots of fun.

This week kids were full of energy, more than usual if that’s even possible! So we tried to remain very active during physical development, we practiced to be rowing a boat, just like the song, we danced “hair up” trolls song and finally we saw a video of transportation they loved that song!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

These activities helped encourage sharing and friendship.

We also celebrated two birthdays; Enrique turned 2 on Thursday, and Aitana on Friday. Everyone had a blast during the celebrations. Enrique threw a big birthday party at kinder with a show from the “Gallinita Pintadita.”.

They went up a ramp as if taking off, then crossed a bridge, jumped into a row boat, then jumped out of the boat, and went through a tunnel shouting out “Choo-Choo!”

We look forward to teaching the kids all about more means of transportation next week and reviewing one last time our community helpers!

Firefighters and Dentist come to visit!

This was a very exciting week full of surprise visits! Our Terrific Tigers enjoyed learning about the different community helpers, such as firefighters, construction workers and dentists!

The highlight of the week for our little ones was our visit from the Firefighters! The kids really enjoyed the visit as they got to see the fire truck and watched Miss Karen dress up as a firefighter!  Some of our toddlers wanted to dress up as well, and they got the opportunity to wear these special outfits! The most exciting moment was probably when the kids got to spray water with the fire hose and hear the different sirens the firetruck makes!

In Creativity Class, our students had a great time making their firefighter finger family! It was exciting for them to see how their hand print slowly and with the addition of new decorations became a firefighter!

In Physical Development they also enjoyed acting out the song “Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Firetruck.” We had a little firetruck the kids carried around, turned the corner, climbed a ladder, and sprayed the hose.

Books read this week include: Arthurs valentine, Cliffords first valentine, Mickey Mouse´s Book, Mr. Charlie andThe Fireman´s Friend!

Our leaders for this week were Jax, Gabriel, Pipe and Emilia!

Overall, it was  week full of magic and fun! We hope the Tigers have great memories of this wonderful experience. Till next week… Happy Friday, everyone!!!

Learning about Firefighters and the Dentist!

This week was very exciting because we had two visits. On Wednesday, the San Pedro firefighters visited Toddler Tree. The firefighters showed the kids all their equipment, and their fire truck. They even let the kids squirt water out of the hose.

Then, on Friday, we had two dentists visit Toddler Tree. They gave a really nice presentation about oral hygene and how you should brush your teeth.

For other activities, during exploration, we did all sorts of fun stuff. We played with transportation toys and puzzles. On firefighter day we made some “fires” we placed red and orange tissue paper on white paper, and sprayed water on it. That way the paint leaked into the paper.

Also, on constrution worker day, the Tiny Turtles loved playing with helmets and tools.

During creativity, we made “apple stamps.” The kids used a real apple and red paint, they stamped it and made the apple shapes.

For the construction worker day, we used different colored crayons so they practiced their gross motor skills using different types of tools. Finally, the kids practiced the right way to brush their teeth. They used a real brush and toothpaste!

This week kids were full of energy! So we were very active during physical development.

Hope you have a great weekend!

February Week 2

We had a great time learning about community helpers such as firefighter, construction worker, teacher and dentist. Big Bears expressed themselves with enthusiasm throughout the week. They also role played being different community helpers having lots of fun.

During creativity they experienced different activities such as “brushing and cleaning” a paper smile they found pasted to our tables using a real toothbrush and toothpaste.

The kids were very excited with the Firefighters visit. They were really impressed by their performance. All of them had a chance to see how Miss Karen role played wearing the complete firefighter suit which weighs around 35 kilos!! Watching how they perform made us conscious of the great effort these community helpers do in keeping us safe! The kids took turns holding the water hose, experiencing the sensation of hosing a large amount of water. They really enjoyed dressing up and feeling like firefighters.

The Bears also learned another valentine rhyme:

Color Valentines

“Valentine red

Valentine blue

Valentine pink

Say- I LOVE YOU !”

As you know next Tuesday February 14th  we will celebrate Valentines Day. Big Bears only need a thermos with water, no lunchboxes that day! If you will be sending valentines for their classmates, please only label who its from. There are 15 Big Bears total.

Have a great weekend!

Police Visit And Other Community Helpers

This week the Tiny Turtles were very excited about community helpers week! We had the pleasure of having a few San Pedro police officers visit Toddler Tree. For that day, during exploration, the Tiny Turtles made a police officer hat, out of a paper plate.

Later, the police made a presentation for the kids that was a lot of fun and very informative. Also “Pedro Ardilla” was at kinder to show the kids the police car and sirens. The Tiny Turtles enjoyed taking pictures with the police car. We loved to see their happy faces and hope they learned a lot about street signs and safety.

For other exploration activities, the kids also played with different community helper trucks. They also, to cover the friendship and love topics, the children made a “Turtles friendship wall” with their handprints.

During creativity time we reviewed concepts learned so far in February. We made and decorated some letters, using different stamps. We also worked on the garbage collector topic, where they learned to pick up trash and put it in the trash can.

Finally, on Friday the kids had a blast baking a pretzel. The kids loved and enjoyed this activity. They took their uncooked pretzel home and hopefully baked it in the oven with someone´s help.

Hope you had a wonderful long weekend! See you on Tuesday!

Of course, this one, is the moth of friendship and love….we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day at Toddler Tree very soon!
