Welcome Big Bears!

Hello Big Bear Parents!

We are so excited to start this school year, it will be full of new adventures and knowledge!

During this week we had the pleasure to have fun with our big bears and introduce ourselves. Our students are expressing  what their favorite color is and who are their friends are.

We are continuing to practice different activities and becoming familiar with our routine.

Also, they learned a song called “Look Who came to School Today” in the tune of Mary had a Little Lamb.

Look who came to school today , school today, school today

Look who came to school today

Big Bears did!!

We will be practicing prince grasp movements in different areas. We will also learn many fun topics, such as feelings, family and different body parts .

We remind you that the Open House will be tomorrow , Tuesday September 6 at 7:00 pm. Hope to see you here!

Let´s Play Together!

We had a great week! The children did better than expected and are adapting quickly to our daily routine. This week we focused on topics about friends, coming to school, body parts, and let’s play together.

During Art class, our Tiny Turtles explored painting with diferent objects such as balls and rolling pins. They also learmed about the parts of a face by making a face and gluing parts onto it.The kids especially enjoyed pasting the eyes and nose and stamping following a pattern made for the mouth!

Physical development class was all about getting to know the different parts of their body. We danced to songs like “I got rhythm,” “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” and “One Little Finger.” At the end of their Physical Development routine the Tiny Turtles enjoy “relax time.”

Books we loved this week: “My Yellow Bus,” “Barney Be My Friend”, and “My First Counting Book.”

This week’s vocabulary words were: What is your name? Look who came school today! Who are your friends? Coming to school (parts of the day)  Let’s play together and Body Parts!

Our topics for next week will be all about Family, reviewing body parts, and feelings (those of which we hope happiness will conquer all).

We would like to remind you of our open house event that will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 8:00 pm in our Tiny Turtles classroom. We look forward to seeing you soon!

My Body Parts!

We have just finished our week #2! Our Terrific Tigers are getting to feel well adapted and they enjoy their daily activities very much! During this second week we talked about their body parts. Vocabulary words such as hand, face, shoulders, tummy, feet, toes, legs, knees, and items related to their bodies, such as clothes (socks & shoes) were seen during the morning. We also talked about, read books and sang songs about the different feelings they can have, such as being happy, sad, angry, sleepy, sick or surprised.

We did several activities in Exploration Time related to their body parts. Activities such as tracing their life size silhouettes and having them paint them, while reviewing their body parts; showing them several pictures of different body parts and having them recognize them and point on their own body where it is found, and they loved it when we used a feather to play “where am I tickling you?”, and they had to name that body part being tickled!

They are continuing to work very well in their Cooperative Play time. Activities such as inserting straws into plastic bottles, using pom-poms, working with containers with different colored coins and separating the coins by colors are their favorites!

Creativity Time is always enjoyed since they work actively with different colors and textures. This week we worked on our letter of the week which was “M is for Monkey”, we also printing their hands with red paint, decorated their life size human silhouettes and made different figurines out of play dough.

Physical Development is a fun class! They like to dance and do different movements to the music as well as playing different instruments! They practiced rolling themselves on mats, rolling the balls to each other, throwing balls into hoola hoops, playing the xylophone and singing the song: “Head, shoulders, knees and toes”, while touching these body parts.

As you can see, we had a very interesting week! Next week we will be talking about family members. We would like to remind you if you haven´t brought their box with family pictures on it, please do as soon as possible since we will be using them next week on our “Family” theme.

On Tuesday, September 6th we will have our Open House for our Terrific Tigers group, which will be held at 7:30 pm in our “green room”. We are really looking forward to seeing you and sharing some important information regarding our daily routine, as well as sharing lovely and fun experiences we have had with your little ones!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and hope to see you on Tuesday evening.
