Happy Valentine’s Day!

We have been busy at Toddler Tree making Valentines cards and treats. Tomorrow is our Valentine’s Day Celebration and everybody is looking forward to a jolly party!

Make sure your child brings a bag or box for treats, and if he or she is bringing some for classmates and friends, please label only who it’s from. This makes it so much easier when passing them around.

We are expecting a visit from the mailman, a chance to hit the piñata, snacks provided by February Party hosts and playtime in the Post Office and Fire Station. It looks like a lot of fun for the little ones!

From home, please only send a thermos with water and something to collect Valentines in. Most of all, prepare your child to give and receive many hugs and kisses on this very special day!

Welcome Februrary!

We have started our second month of the year! It is always nice to see our students´ expressions when they come in the classroom and they notice that the bulletin board has been changed to a different theme, related to the new month that is just beginning! Of course, this one, is the moth of friendship and love….we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day at Toddler Tree very soon!

We started this short week on Tuesday, talking about love and friendship to our Terrific Tigers. We explained what Valentine´s Day is and how we need to be nice and take good care of our friends. During Creativity Class they started working on their Sponge Heart Prints. They were very quick to recognize the heart shape and the different colors they used to print these hearts.

We also started this week to talk to our little ones about community helpers. We talked about police officers and were happy to receive a visit on Wednesday of two police officers that went to our kinder to talk about traffic rules and how to listen and obey the rules. They also learned about garbage collectors and the importance of keeping garbage in the trash can to help mantain a clean and healthy envirnoment.  Finally, we talked about bakers and they were thrilled to decorate their own cupcakes, pretending to be bakers!

Books read this week included: Arthur´s Valentne Countdown, Clifford´s Valentine, Everyone has Important Jobs to Do, and Elmo´s Valentine.

Our leaders this week were Gabriel, Fede and Lazaro! We celebrated Federico Gutierrez´s birthday on Wednesday. He turned 3 and was happy to share this special day with his parents that visited him in our classroom and shared cupcakes with everyone. Of course, he had his special birthday crown made with Mr. Mike.

Next week we will continue to talk about more community helpers and we will be celebrating our special Valentine´s Day party next Friday.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

February Week 1

This week was full of excitement for our Big Bears! First they learned about love and friendship,as well as our wonderful community helpers; such as police officer, garbage colector and baker. San Pedro police officers came to offer a nice presentation, reinforcing that a traffic lights have three colors which mean the following: red-stop, yellow- be careful, and green- go and to hold someone’s hand in order to cross the street. Big Bears enjoyed the police officer’s observations and it was great that he even showed all traffic signs in English! Our students know perfectly they have to buckle up in order to be safe in a car, too.

We have been developing their motor skills, both fine and gross by making them trace their names and working in physical development and coordination. We are still practicing the numbers and developing holding crayons properly as we do prewriting exercises, following the dots with their names.

Next Thursday February 11 we will like to ask you if it is posible to bring a labeled toothbrush and toothpaste for a brushing demonstration.

We have been practicing the following rhyme called “Colored Valentines”

“Valentines Red

Valentines Blue

Valentines Pink

Say I love you “

As you know, next Friday, February 12 we will celebrate “Valentines Day”. Children only need a thermos with water, no lunchboxes that day! If you will be sending valentine´s for your child´s classmates, please only label who it´s from. There are 14 Big Bears in the class.

As teachers we always want the best for your child because we love them with all our hearts.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Caya & Miss María Elena

Mr. Policeman

February is here! A month that represents love and friendship, with lots of new vocabulary words to learn. During this month we will have several visits from community helpers such as: Police officer, mailman, firefighter, and rescue team. On Wednesday police officers dropped by the kinder and gave a brief explanation on traffic signals and the kids were very excited to get in their patrol car.

Today was Gonzalo’s turn to bring his surprise bag, and wow, were turtles in for a surprise! Gonzalo brought lots of stuff to show and share around with his friends. He brought two books, a car, two balls, and a plastic toy hen.

This week in exploration children enjoyed a sensory activity where they made a valentines card, spreading over a paper  some glue mixed with red food coloring, tracing a heart afterwards and pasting stickers on it. Every student chose who they wanted to give their Valentines card to, and then they hugged his/her friend. The creeping water experiment was a big hit with the tiny turtles, they loved pouring some food coloring in the cups and watching the water turn red, yellow, green and blue. After that we put some paper towel inside each cup and watched it creeping all over the paper, your kids were really surprised!

One of this week’s key themes was “baker” so today kids were all in helping to make their chef’s hat. They used it in creativity time while they spread frosting on their cupcake and then top them off with some sprinkles.

Garbage collector was another theme on this week’s list, and turtles had a special activity in creativity: They got to the classroom and found lots of wrappers (playing the part of trash) laying on the floor, and everyone helped picking it up. Kiddos enjoyed making a collage with the pieces of “trash” they collected.

Tomorrow is Luis Lucas Lara’s birthday! He turns two, and next week we’ll be celebrating his super kid day. We want to wish him the happiest birthday ever, we love him very much!

Have a nice weekend!
