Spring and Easter Parade

It has become a tradition at Toddler Tree to celebrate the coming of Spring and Easter with a special party. The event begins at 10:00am with families arriving at the park with a decorated trike, bike or vehicle that will be organized by group at the indicated location. Here are some examples of how Toddler Tree families have decorated different vehicles using paper, balloons, flowers, plush toys and other decorations.

For mobile devices, use this link.

The kids can choose from a variety of activities the teachers have prepared and there will be time for an individual photo shoot with the Easter bunny, too. When everyone has arrived, Toddler Tree staff will blow the whistle to start the Parade. The kids will ride through the park on the sidewalk path in their decorated vehicles. Everybody will share a snack after that. Next week we will be preparing confetti stuffed eggshells for the Easter Egg Hunt that will take place after the snack. We look forward to seeing you there!

February Week 4

Big Bears had a week full of excitement! They reviewed the different types of transportation that exists: land, air, and water. The kids were able to express which was their favorite vehicle and enjoyed every single moment pretending to ride them.

Our students also learned how important our community helpers are and what each one does so we can be happier. On Wednesday the “Rescue Team” visited Toddler Tree. We were very exited to see what they have and do to help us in case of an emergency.

They were amazed to role-play a trip to space and now know what an astronaut is, how he/she floats in space wearing a special suit and tank. Big Bears understand we live on planet “Earth” but there are many more planets. Check out how yor child recites the following rhyme:

“Zoom, zoom, zoom”

We are going to the moon

Zoom, zoom, zoom

We´ll get there very soon

3…2…1…Blast Off!

February is almost over, and this week reviewed all the topics of transportation, community helpers, air transportation, and space. Rescue team came to kinder on Wednesday, and kids enjoyed their presentation.

Turtles enjoyed exploration time, inserting straws into bottles, playing with community helpers puppets and transportation toys. One particular activity that they really liked was the space sensory box, filled with sand, unicel balls (wrapped up in aluminum foil) as planets and stars.

In our Creativity department with Miss Cristy, kids painted some craft sticks with purple paint, then pasted them together to make an airplane. The car track painting is such a great activity for our turtles, too. They loved getting a chance to paint with their favorite toy cars. Today kiddos got to make stars using glue, star shape stamps, and glitter over a black craft paper to simulate space.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Air, Water & Land Transportation!

This week our Terrific Tigers enjoyed reviewing  all the types of transportation as well as community helpers. Transportation included, air, water and land, such as airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons, rockets, cruise ships, boats, sailboats, cars, buses, motorcycles, fireengines, etc.  They are now very aware of the community helpers and can name and identify them. We reviewed the police officer, mail carrier, doctor, dentist, teacher, garbage collector, firefighter and baker.

The kids really enjoyed their art projects painting with sponges and stamps. They loved working with small cars and making a car track painting too!  They liked to make their community helpers hat this week, too.  As you can notice, the decoration on the outside of the kinder is fabulous! All of this work is done exclusively by our students at Toddler Tree! They enjoy seeing their own projects there!

A new topic seen this week was Space! It was amazing to see how interested they were about this new theme and some of them even knew about the planets and the stars! They watched a video on Baby Einstein called: “Ring Around the Planet” and they were fascinated by the music and the content of the video! We will be making an astronaut project you will see  soon!

During story time they were happy to hear the stories of the books such as: Fisher Price, My Little Pepole Busy Town; Away We Go!; The Wheels on the Bus; Dora´s What Will I Be?; Noisy Helpers; Trains, Boats, and Planes (Elmo´s Book); and Little People´s Cars,Trucks, Planes and Trains.

During Physical Development the kids really enjoyed an obstacle course we set up for them to imagine they are traveling by plane, by boat, and by train. They went up a ramp as if taking off, then crossed a bridge, jumped into a row boat, then jumped out of the boat, and went through a tunnel shouting out “Choo-Choo!”

We had another special visit this week at the kinder! On Wednesday, the Rescue Team came to visit us! They showed the kids what they do in case of an accident or a fire, and showed them some of the material that they use in their special first aid kit. Some of our little ones even volunteered to participate with them!

Our leaders this week included  Eduardo, Lilia María, Andres, Lazaro and Emilia. It still is so exciting for them to show everyone what is in their suprise bag!

We look forward to teaching the kids all about spring and farm animals next month….in other words, next week!  Hard to believe March is only a few  days away!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend with your lovely family!

Sound the alarm! Firefighters came to Toddler Tree!

This week’s community helper was firefighters, and on Wednesday they came to kinder. The children were very excited to see them and their fire truck. We took some nice pictures for you; they’re on our facebook page.

Exploration time was filled with all sorts of fun activities, like playing with transportation toys, community helper’s puppets, transportation puzzles, role playing like firefighters with a collapsable fire truck and “hoses”, and playing with boats.

Tiny turtles had a blast in creativity time! So much to do! They made “roads” by pasting white tape on black paper to look like lanes. Turtles loved making some community helpers vechicles such as a garbage truck and a fire truck. Yesterday they got some tongue supressors which they painted with purple paint, and these are going to be transformed into an airplane next week! Today your little ones really had a super fun time in our yellow room, playing with water, rocks, corks and golf balls. Tiny Turtles loved to splash & splash!

This week kids were full of energy, more than usual- if that’s even possible! So we tried to remain very active. During physical development, Miss Mely had some great activities to do: playing with the tunnel, the colorful parachute, making a cone circuit pretending to be airplanes and arranging chairs like an airplane, using rafts and oars pretending to be rowing a boat, just like the song!

Hope you have a great weekend!

February Week 3

We had a great time learning about the different types of transportation: air, water and land. Big Bears expressed themselves with enthusiasm throughout the week. They also were able to identify the different sounds each vehicle makes.

The kids were very excited with the Firefighters visit. They were really impressed by their performance. All of them had a chance to see how Mr. Mike and Miss María Elena role played wearing the complete firefighter suit which weighs around 35 kilos!! Watching how they perform made us conscious of the great effort these community helpers do in keeping us safe! They also took turns holding the water hose, experiencing the sensation of hosing a large amount of water. They really enjoyed dressing up and feeling like firefighters.

During gym time with Miss Mely, they had a great time boarding an imaginary airplane and rowing their boats learning how to use an oar. With Ms. Cristy Big Bears learned the difference between sinking and floating, and made some airplanes and helicopters.

Next week besides reviewing community helpers and transportation we will also learn about space and our solar system.

Have a fun weekend!  :)

Firefighters come to visit!

After finishing with Valentines and the great party we had last week, we started this week  with new topics…Transportation and Community Helpers were are main focus this week. Our Terrific Tigers enjoyed learning about the different means of transportation, such as land, water and air, and were able to give several examples of each.  We have also been reviewing all the different Community Helpers we have been talking about  during the morning.

We had a visit from the Firefighters.! This was the highlight of the week for our little ones. The kids really enjoyed the visit as they got to see the fire truck and watched Miss Maria Elena and Mr. Mike dress up as firefighters.  Some of our toddlers wanted to dress up as well, and they got the opportunity to wear these special outfits! The most exciting moment was probably when the kids got to spray water with the fire hose.

In Creativity Class, our students had a great time helping Miss Cristy make decorations and paste them  on the window looking out of The Bears´classroom. All the decorations you see as you arrive  at the kinder, were made by our students and they pasted by them as well, with the help of their teachers. They get so excited knowing that their work of art is being seen by everyone! They also had a great time making their own fire truck.

In Physical Development they also enjoyed acting out the song “Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Firetruck.” We had a little firetruck the kids carried around, turned the corner, climbed a ladder, and sprayed the hose.

Books read this week include: The Little Engine that Could, Mickey Mouse´s Book, of Cars & Trucks, Mr. Charlie, The Fireman´s Freiend, Trains, Boats, & more Trains, and Vehicles.

Overall, it was  week full of magic and fun! We hope the Tigers have great memories of this wonderful experience. Till next week… Happy Friday, everyone!!!

Love and Friendship…Valentine´s Day!

This past week our Terrific Tigers learned a lot about community helpers. We talked about teachers, doctors, nurses, construction workers, oral hygiene and dentists, and finally, about what a mailman does.  They have loved these topics since they are able to dress up as each one of these characters and even role play their part with their classmates! This is one of our toddler´s favorite activities!

During Creativity Class they worked on thier Heart posters for the party on Friday, printing out different sizes and colors of hearts on a big cardboard paper. They also enjoyed making a Doctor´s bag, with some of the items they might find in a First Aid Kit! One of their favorites this week was using a hard had and pretending to be a construction worker, while using different kinds of toy tools, such as hammers, nails, saws, & screwdrivers.  Finally, on Thursday they ejoyed pretending to be dentists and cleaned up a smile which had “cavities”! They even made a mouth using two slices of apples for a mouth, frosing, and mini marshmallows for the teeth!

Our Physical Development classes are greatly enjoyed by our little ones and they have been working on different kinds of movements, such as climbing, jumping, running, hopping, etc.,, all with the rythem of the music they enjoy so much!

Stories read to them this week include: It´s School time, The Magic School Bus, Jaime Visits the Nurse, Let´s Visit the Doctor´s Office, Down by the Station, Just Going to the Dentisst, Visit the Dentist, and A Visti to the City. They are really interested in listening during Story Time.

Leaders for this week included Eduardo, Lazaro, Andres and Eva.

Of course, the main attraction for our students this week was the special Valentine´s party we had at school on Friday! Several moms provided the refreshments and drinks and we had different centers to go to during the morning, such as a PostOffice, a Fire Station, and hitting a piñata outside! It was wonderful to see how our students sat down in a circle and shared some treats they brought for each other on this special day. They are now able to take turns and wait patiently.

Next week we will be talking about transportation.

We hope you have a great weekend!

“Red Paper

Blue Paper

Crayons and glue

I´m making a valentine and one is for you”

We also had the opportunity to receive Mr. Mike dressed as a mailman delivering valentines to all our Big Bears. They had fun in the Post Office with Ms. Cristy and in the Fire Station with Miss Mely. You should have seen their expressions… they were so excited! Please ask them to tell you about it.

Love & Friendship

Valentine’s Day will soon be here and to celebrate this special date Tiny Turtles had a jolly party! They got to exchange valentine’s letters (made by them) with their friends; they enjoyed a yummy snack and got the visit of the mail man, who gave them a special treat. Kiddos also exchanged candy with their friends, learning about sharing and friendship.

Also, on Tuesday we had a celebration in our classroom. Luis Lucas was our super kid! This little fellow turned two on February 6th, and we were so happy to celebrate his birthday! Everyone sang Happy Birthday. He was surrounded by all of his friends and his mommy, daddy and big sister Victoria. Luis Lucas got a super kid crown and the magic rocket ride, courtesy of Mr. Mike. After this everyone had a yummy tasty cupcake, such a sweet treat what a great way to end of our busy day. Luis Lucas we want to wish you all the best, all the joy and happiness for such a cute and sweet boy! We love you very much!

This week in our Exploration department, little ones got to draw and play on a magnetic chalkboard, reviewing the concept of teacher and shapes. We also had a little bit of a role play activity for our doctor & nurse theme, kids played and explored the doctor’s  cart and kit. For the dentist theme we made some “Dentures” out of apples, marshmallows and vanilla frosting with a drop of red food coloring. Today children gave their valentines card to the friend each of them chose this past week, they also got some envelopes and letters so they could place them in the mailbox.

In our creativity class with Miss Cristy, turtles made a heart collage and a garbage truck, they pasted a window, wheels, lights, and cabin. Another activity that they had a blast with was with the “Doctor’s kit” made out of construction paper and cotton, gauze, tongue suppressor, tape, and a band aid. On Wednesday we had the “Construction worker” theme and children were really into role playing just like them, everyone got some “tools” and a piece of Styrofoam so they could practice their little builder skills. Oral hygiene & dentist is such an important and fun theme to discuss with the turtles, they loved to get a toothbrush and clean (with toothpaste and water) some cavities on the smiles they found pasted on our tables.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and happy Valentine’s Day!!
