May Week 3

This week we learned about different sea animals and their habitat. Our students had the opportunity to “live” under the sea. Each one expressed what sea animal they would like to be! It was fun to hear why the kids would be like their animal. We passed around different inflatable sea animals. They also had the chance to go (magnet) fishing!

During creativity with Ms. Cristy, we enjoyed spaghetti painting in order to make an ocean. Big Bears also made a school fish, a starfish and a jellyfish.

We have been so proud of Big Bears throughout this year! They have been learning new rhymes and practicing all the ones they learned during their time at Toddler Tree.

As you know, next Wednesday will be the “Seasons of Love” program at Candy Gum Party Place in Plaza San Pedro. Boys will need black pants and white button down shirt or polo (with collar, no Tshits please). Girls dressed in pink tights, leotard and ballerina slippers.

 

Sea life!

Tiny Turtles are now learning about water animals! We changed our bulletin board to show sea life and some of the animals that we could find under the sea. Kids are super excited with this theme, this week they learned: fish, shark, whale, and dolphin.

Exploration time was such a great experience for your kids. They we’re pleased and surprised with the different activities we made. For example, free play with inflatable fish, sea animals puzzles duplos, sensory box with kinetic sand and plastic sea animals, sea shell prints with play dough (fine motor skills) and “Go Fish!” with fish magnets and magnet puzzles.

In creativity time with Miss Cristy children finished their jungle project, pasting all of the elements on their poster. They also got to enjoy some free play with sea animal cutters and play dough, making all kinds of sea creatures. Turtles started a sea project made of a white cardboard which they painted blue using spaghetti paint and foam. Kiddos love when they get the chance to make an animal, and this week was no exception. By rubbing orange and brown crayons on white paper over a sandpaper cutout, we revealed the shape and texture of a starfish. Kids found the sandpaper star shape pasted on the table and they placed a white sheet of paper on top and then rubbed crayons on it, so they were super excited discovering the starfish shape!  Our little students know how to put their hands together to resemble a fish, and move their hands from side to side like a “fish”, so they were so happy to make a school of fish. We gave them some sponges cut out like a fish, glue, glitter and wiggly eyes, they made stamps with their “fishy sponges” (moistened with glue) and then spread glitter on top, wiggly eyes were added too. Today was so much fun!  Tiny Turtles made a jellyfish made out of a plastic bag and white pipe cleaners. After that, we popped big bubble wrap and then Miss Cristy finished by making bubbles. The classroom filled with laughs and happy faces. Everybody got a turn to blow bubbles, too. Kids are helping out with the props for our “Seasons of Love” end of the school year program, and today they helped spread glue (using a paintbrush) and glitter to make some pretty tree branches.

This week, besides rehearsing for our “Seasons of Love” program, we also had fun with hoola hoops, jumping in and out, while on physical development class. We wanted to practice balance and what better way than using our balance beams and to up the challenge kids tried to do it without holding the hand of their teacher, placing their arms sideways.

Turtles love to watch videos about the vocabulary words and themes they’re learning, and this week we showed them: “Baby Shark”, “Baby Beluga”, “Dolphins” and a part of the movie “Finding Nemo”. This is great for the little ones because they get to name and identify the sea animals they’re learning at the moment.

Under The Sea

The Terrific Tigers were fascinated this week learning all about sea creatures. They Now can identify a whale, a shark, a sea star, a sea horse, turtle, octopus, dolphin, and jellyfish.

In art the kids really enjoyed making a school of fish with glue, sponges, and glitter. They also enjoyed tracing a sea star with sand paper.One of the favorite art projects was painting blue with foam, blue paint and spaghetti.

During circle time, Mr. Mike showed the Tigers many different sea creatures. The kids really liked the song “Once I caught a fish alive.”

In Physical Development, the kids had fun dancing, swimming and bobbing like many of the sea creatures. They really liked dancing to “The Baby Shark” song. They also had a lot of fun dancing and stretching to “Baby Beluga.”

During exploration, the kids got to play with sand. They also enjoyed working with sea creature puzzles and building blocks.

We are also very busy getting ready for next week’s show. We are excited to see the little ones on stage dancing just like they do in the classroom.

May Week 1

Our Big Bears started learning about different jungle and zoo animals. This new theme has made us practice and learn animal actions and sounds. During physical development, we have been pretending we are in the jungle/zoo. The Big Bears love to sing and act: “Elephants Have Wrinkles, Five Little Monkeys, Going to the Zoo, and roleplay many more songs. You should see their little faces expressing lots of excitement and happiness!

Also, during this week, at Toddler Tree made a special gift with lots of love and creativity. We thank Mrs. Maricusa and Ms. Cristy who were in charge of the production.

Also, the Big Bears class would like to share a poem with you.

At Creativity class, Big Bears have been using different techniques and materials reinforcing their gross and fine motor skills.

As well, we will be practicing and learning new language patterns such as: It´s mine, It´s yours, It´s empty, It´s full, and many other opposites.

We are so proud of our enthusiastic “Big Bears” because each day throughout the year they have been demonstrating their energy and skill to keep on trying to acquire new abilities.

You’re Gonna Hear Me Roar!!!!

This week was special for the Terrific Tigers because one of the days was dedicated to learning all about tigers. Of course, they learned about other animals too, and they especially enjoyed perfecting their roar.

During exploration, the kids enjoyed playing with a monkey palm tree. They also had a really good time exploring different textures of beans, oatmeal, and lentils with several animals.

In art, the kids enjoyed gluing pieces of different materials to create a rainforest. They also used their hands to make elephants, and enjoyed using glitter to make a snake.

For their funny looking zebras, they used their footprints to make the shape of the face.

During physical development, the Tigers have also been perfecting their choreography for the program.

We also introduced them to songs like “Animal Action I and II”, “Elephants Have Wrinkles”, and “Roar” by Katy Perry.

The week was full of fun and lots of Tigers roaring. We also want to thank everybody for their beautiful and delicious Teacher’s Day gifts!

We look forward to next week when we will be teaching the Terrific Tigers all about sea animals and the ocean, Give them a big Roar!!!!

 

 

Bye Bye Jungle Animals!

This was our last week of jungle animals!  Tiny Turtles learned about the crocodile, tiger, kangaroo, bear and rhinoceros. They enjoyed this theme a lot, always imitating the animal sounds and loving the books that had pictures of them in it.

 

In exploration time kids had fun with the sensory box with grains, plastic grass and plastic jungle animals. Making towers with duplos is always a big hit, as well as the peek a blocks that have little figures inside and turtles love to identify them. The kids were introduced to a new activity: a pom poms and tong box, that reinforces their fine motor skills, and your little ones were really into it!

 

In creativity time with Miss Cristy we continued the “Rainforest collage”, making a foot print with white paint, and making stamps of lions and tigers using yellow and orange paint. They liked to watch the cotton balls turn different colors by soaking them in colored water. Another activity that they enjoyed a lot was pasting yarn (yellow, light green, and green) in the shape of tree tops. Kiddos got to cut out a snake out of purple paper and they spread some glue and finish it off with purple glitter. Play dough is a must for the tiny turtles, they really enjoy its texture and playing with it. They were happy to roll it between their hands and on the table to make snakes.

 

We are still rehearsing for our “Seasons of Love” program, but we take breaks from time to time. What better way to have fun and explore than a “mountain” made with mats, turtles got to pretend they were the bear that goes over the mountain, and at the same time they listened to “The bear goes over the mountain” song by Barney.

As you well know, our students have a lot of energy and they love to be active all day long, so an activity that they absolutely adore is playing with balls. They love kicking, throwing, and rolling over  so we try to make space for them to have a little free play time too. Today we watched a part of “The Lion King” and it waa exciting to see all of the animals shown in it.

We want to thank you all for your presents, gifts and your appreciation towards us. We feel very blessed to be involved in your child’s education and to get the amazing opportunity of watching their growth day by day. We love being teachers and we want to thank you for entrusting us with the most important and invaluable treasure of all: Your kids!

May Week 2

Big Bears had fun learning about jungle and zoo animals; how each one has something special! Knowing that even though they all live in the same environment their habitats and characteristics are different.

During creativity with Ms. Cristy they enjoyed making a rainforest collage. They put together many jungle animals using different techniques and materials.

In Mr. Mike´s Circle time, Big Bears were very enthusiastic role playing different situations like wearing masks or pretending being in the jungle imitating different sounds and movements.

Next week we will introduce water animals and all the wonderful species that live under the sea. They will have fun through several activities such as magnet fishing, sea creature exploration and many more.

Big Bears are practicing with great enthusiasm for our upcoming end of the year program: “Seasons of Love” that will be held on Wednesday May 27th at Candy Gum in Plaza San Pedro. All students dress rehearsal starts at 9:00am. Presentation for parents and grandparents will be at 10:30am.
