September Week 3

This week Big Bears are trying to learn and follow instructions much more carefully. In our creativity time we used different techniques to decorate the Mexican Flag. We loved celebrating Olivia’s superkid birthday on Thursday!

Next week we will discover the different parts of the house covering the following vocabulary: house (with includes living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living and dinning room). We will talk about things we have at home: lamps, beds, table, chairs, windows, doors, closet, mirror, soap and water.

We would like to share a thought to you:

“Hugging is a good medicine”

It transfers energy and gives the person hugged an emotional lift. You need four hugs a day for survival, eight for maintenance, and twelve for growth. Scientists say that hugging is a form of communication because it can say things you don’t have the words for. The nicest thing about a hug is that you usually can’t give one without getting one.

We hope you will enjoy this long weekend with your family. Have fun!! ¬†ūüôā

First week of school

Dear Parents,

During this week we had the pleasure to meet our little Big Bears and present ourselves. These days have been full of joy and happiness. They have practiced different activities and became familiar with our daily life at Toddler Tree. The kids are making great effort in adjusting to new teachers and routines.

During the next two weeks we will be practicing pincer grasp movements in different areas. We will also learn many fun topics, such as feelings and different parts of the body.

Have a great weekend and we will be very happy to see them on Monday.

September Week 2

Next week we will talk about family members and what each one represents. We will learn about our country and why we are celebrating the Mexican Independence.

Big Bears are very happy singing: “Look who came to school today”

We are also practicing a rhyme name: “Marching Fingers!”

Up the hill, down the hill

Marching they will go

Ten little fingers, marching in a row!

They had the opportunity to express their feelings. They sang and acted out each feeling in different ways.

Big Bears will practice the following language patterns. May I go to the bathroom, please? What do you see, I see… We will also practice numbers one and two. They will learn to recognize each one and understand what each one represents.

We would appreciate if you could send back the red folder.

Next Tuesday September 9 we will be very happy to meet you at the Open House that will take place at 7:30 pm.

Super kid will be Olivia on September 11.

Have a nice weekend!

September Week 1

This week the Terrific Tigers have been adapting more and more to Toddler Tree life. They have been learning about their body parts and about family members. They particularly enjoyed the “Fuzzy Bear” book that talks about clothing.

We want to thank Emiliano’s family for a wonderful donation they made to Toddler Tree. They brought in a rockin’ tiger which has been a sensation. It has also become a handy tool to teach the tigers about taking turns.

We also had a Super Kid this week. We celebrated Armando’s birthday (which is August 10th). Mr. Mike woke up the accordion to sing him Happy Birthday and took him on the classic birthday rocket ride.

We are looking forward to go into next week where we will be covering a lot more on colors and shapes. Have a great weekend, everybody!

Hello September!

Dear Parents,

We had a great week! The children did better than expected and are adapting quickly to our daily routine. This week our main topic was body parts and feelings. We reviewed these concepts by doing different activities: tracing of the body (we had two students who wanted to have their classmates trace their body outline on a big piece of paper)¬†and pasting different body parts. We also played the game of “body parts dice” (children rolled a dice and everyone had to touch the body part that was shown on top). Our students¬†also enjoyed learning about different feelings using colors that identify each one of them (Red for angry, blue sad, orange for surprised, pink is sleepy, yellow is for happy, green means sick, and purple resembles laughing).

Our Tiny Turtles had a lot of fun in creativity class using different techniques and tools such as stamps, rollers, paintbrushes and clothespins. They experienced different textures like shaving cream and cotton balls, they even had their feet painted so that they could make a footprint on a piece of paper.

This week’s vocabulary words were: Hands, face, shoulders, tummy, ears, neck, eyes, nose, legs, arms, feet, toes, socks and shoes. And for the feelings theme: Happy, sad, angry, sleepy, surprised, laughing, and sick.

Our topics for next week will be: family, mom, dad, brother, sister, baby, grandma, grandpa, and Mexican flag.

We would like to remind you of our open house event that will be held on Tuesday, September 9 at 8:30 pm in our Tiny Turtles classroom. We look forward to seeing you soon!
