May Week 2

We are almost finishing the jungle/zoo animals theme. The Big Bears now know how each one has such different characteristics and habitats even though they all live in the same community. This week, the Big Bears had a lot of practice balancing and coordination in our physical development class.

As a creative activity, each student painted using different colors end techniques. After doing this they had the chance to relate several animals with a specific color or characteristic. For example, a giraffe bends or stretches his long neck and is covered with spots. A zebra has black and white stripes. An elephant weighs tons and has a long trunk with tusks. A lion male has a mane.

During circle time with Mr. Mike we have been role-playing different situations and pretending to be part of the jungle wearing all kinds of masks.

Next week we will introduce water animals and all the wonderful species that live under the sea. Through several activities we will be experiencing life under the ocean.

We had today a super kid. It was Emile’s turn. His parents brought Darth Vader to the celebration and everybody´s jaw dropped! It was awesome!!

We would like to thank you for all your kindness, appreciation, and the lovely gifts we received for teachers day. You make us feel very special.

Big Bears are practicing with great enthusiasm for our upcoming End of the Year Show that will take place next Friday, May 23, 2014.

Have a nice weekend !

During physical development, we have been pretending we are in the jungle / zoo.. The Big Bears love to sing and act: “Elephants Have Wrinkles, Five Little Monkeys, Going to the Zoo, and roleplay many more songs. You should see their little faces expressing lots of excitement and happiness!

Also, during this week, at Toddler Tree made a special gift with lots of love and creativity. We thank Mrs. Maricusa and Ms. Cristy for such a great help.

Also, the Big Bears class would like to share a poem for you.

I love Mommy

Yes I do!

Mommy loves me

Very much, too!

We had a Super Kid! It was Fabiana´s B – Day. Her parents came and shared with us beautiful flower and butterfly cupcakes.

At Creativity class, Big Bears have been using different techniques and materials reinforcing their gross and fine motor skills.

As well, we will be practicing and learning new language patterns such as: It´s mine, It´s yours, It´s empty, It´s full, and many other opposites.

We are so proud of our enthusiastic “Big Bears” because each day throughout the year they have been demonstrating us their energy and skill to keep on trying and acquiring new abilities.

We will keep in touch. :) Have fun and enjoy your child!

HAPPY  MOTHER’S  DAY !

Animals that Live in the Zoo

The kids have enjoyed the zoo animals we have covered over the last two weeks. We’ve learned about giraffes,  elephants, monkeys, zebras, lions, and tigers among learning about what a zoo is and who a zoo keeper is.. We have pretended to be different animals by moving like them and making their sounds. The Terrific Tigers have also learned many songs related to this theme.

During our Art class our students worked on your Mother’s Day present and they were very happy to know it was a present for their mommies on this special day.

Next week we will  continue to talk about different zoo animals.

We hope you enjoy your weekend!

Children’s Week

Welcome back! It was nice to see all of our students back this week. They have grown so much during the past 2 weeks! Our class has been learning about zoo and circus animals. On Wednesday we celebrated children’s day, too!  During exploration, the children watched how popcorn started to pop from an air popper. They were very happy and excited to see the whole process. In recess, the kids played with the sand and water table with toy animals, dipping them in water and pretending to walk in the sand. They also took turns hitting the pinata and had fun collecting all the candy. We role-played as ringmaster, circus clowns, lion tamers and holding/jumping through the “ring of fire” with the stuffed animal Tiger. The children also enjoyed playing in the ball pool. They were so happy! During gym, our little ones showed off their balance skills walking on the “tight rope” with our balance beams. In creativity, the children made a popcorn bucket and a zoo cage with animal crackers. This week we also celebrated Moni’s superkid day! It was a a very busy short week, but the children enjoyed every part of it! Vocabulary words: Zoo, zookeeper, circus, tiger, ring master, ring of fire, popcorn, pop!, balloons. Next week´s vocabulary words: Jungle, monkey, lion, zebra, giraffe, and elephant.
