Welcome Spring!

We are preparing for our Spring parade and party. This week we painted eggshells and filled them with confetti. The kids are really excited! We also had a birthday celebration for Regina Marcos on Thurstday.

The Spring parade and party will be on Wednesday the 20th at 10:00 am at Colonia Sierra Madre Park. The agenda:

  • 10:00 am Arrival & photo session with Easter Bunny
  • 10:30 am Parade of decorated scooters, trikes, cars or bikes. The parade will be professionally filmed, so watch out for the camera!
  • 10:45 am Snack (provided by March room mothers)
  • 11:00 am Easter Egg Hunt

Please be sure to bring a basket or bag for the egg hunt and have your decorated cars ready for the parade. During the egg hunt we want each child to have at least six eggs so if you see someone with less, please be kind enough to share.

Thank you all for helping us by collecting egg shells!

Bunny Hop Bunny Hop…

It has been wonderful to see the kids get so excited about a song! This month “Bunny Hop” has been a hit!! The kids put on bunny ears and start hopping, moving and singing as if they were bunnies. Bunny Hop (<<< click to listen) They are working on their memory, language, and gross motor skills while having fun. I don’t think there is a better way of learning!

The Terrific Tigers are looking forward to the Spring Parade and party! Today the kids painted eggs and they began filling them with confetti. We remind you that the party will be next Wednesday. The schedule will be as follows:

Spring is almost here!

During this week Big Bears had a wonderful time talking about Easter and different creepy crawlers. We had the chance to follow instructions by placing different cereals and forming a beautiful caterpillar.

An activity that was very interesting for them was painting a special leaf that shows the life cycle of a butterfly.

Big Bears love learning through the use of enriching activities and that is why they created a garden with different insects and creepy crawlers using the fingerprint technique.

For all of us at Toddler Tree, our planet is really important and that’s why we will have a GREEN DAY (Tuesday March 19). Please send your kids with something green to wear and/or green snacks.

Also, next week (Wednesday March 20) we will have the Easter Parade which will be held at Colonia Sierra Madre Park. Big Bears are so excited about this event and they have been participating in different activities. In case you have any questions about this event please let us know and we will be happy to help you.

Next Monday (March 18) there will be NO CLASSES.

Have a great long weekend.

Thank you,

Ms. Caya & Ms. Yayis

Green Day

Everyday is Earth Day

If its cold, wet or hot.

Let’s save the planet

It’s the only one we’ve got.

——————————————————————————————

Muchas Gracias,

Ms. Caya & Ms. Yayis

March Week 1

Dear Parents,

We are happy with the successful photo shoots that took place this week with Mario Sosa. All the kids cooperated easily and enjoyed the tricks to capture their smiles.

This week we talked about different spring themes, such as: planting a seed, parts of a flower and creepy crawlies. Big Bears had the chance to plant a seed and during several weeks they will learn how to take care and help grow a beautiful bean plant. Also, we learned a new rhyme called “One, Two, Buckle My Shoe” (you can watch a video of them at the end of this letter).

Next week during recess time we will start coloring eggs using different colors. Each day will be full of Easter activities and new concepts. We will be focusing on spring bugs (bees, flies, caterpillars, butterflies, grasshoppers and crickets). They will learn about their environment, the sounds they make and what they eat.

We remind you that our Easter Party (Wednesday, March 20) is almost here; if you have any extra eggshells please send them to us as soon as possible.

Please don’t send your kids with toys or distracting accessories to school and make sure all of your child’s sweaters and jackets are labeled to avoid mix-ups.

Have a great weekend.

Thank you,

Ms. Caya & Ms. Yayis

Muchas Gracias,

Ms. Caya & Ms. Yayis

Spring is here!

This week is all about the garden. We are learning about growing, creepy crawlers and spring. On Monday we planted beans and the kids learned and practiced several skills. First they were asked to count four beans (math), then they were told to insert them inside a small jar (fine motor skills) and later they were asked to put some cotton (grasping and hand-eye coordination) inside. After that they put one more bean on top and they splashed some water (again, use of fine motor skills). Every day they take a look and they are observing if they see any changes from the previous day. Activities may look simple but there is “more than meets the eye”.
The kids enjoy the new March songs and rhymes and we encourage you to reinforce theme vocabulary at home such as: sun, rain, soil, umbrella, ants, seed, water, roots, stem, flower, worms. The kids are also learning to identify numbers one through five.

We hope you enjoy your weekend!
Miss Lucia and Miss Vero

Creepy Crawlies

We had a wonderful week role-playing the following: flying in an airplane, rowing a boat, riding a train, getting on a school bus and pedaling a bicycle. The kids loved it! Next week we start with spring and more: sun, clouds, umbrella, rain, parts of the flower, how to grow a plant, worms, bugs, ants and ladybugs. We had two super kids this week: Diego Acosta and Sophie Schwarz.

On Wednesday, March 20, we will be having our Easter Parade & Party. For the Easter Egg Hunt, we kindly ask each child to collect as many eggshells as possible and bring them to kinder. All kids will participate in painting the eggshells on Monday, March 18th, filling and covering them on Tuesday the 19th in order to have them ready for the party.

As a reminder if you can return you art portfolio it would be really helpful.

In our creative department, this week we are going to work with the following:

  • Techniques: dying, growing, painting, handprint, pasting and molding.
  • Media: paint, construction paper, cotton, beans, alcohol, food color, coffee filters.
  • Concepts: up and down, in and out
  • Vocabulary: flower, plant, seed, soil, sun, cloud, umbrella, rain, worms, ladybugs. ants, petal, leaf, clouds and spring.

February Week 4

This week was full of exciting adventures, our Big Bears had the opportunity to experience watching and getting inside an airplane and a helicopter. The visit to Aeropuerto Del Norte made our kids understand more what we have been learning about air transportation. The also enjoyed riding a bus and presenting our new rhyme “Take me out to the airport”.

Next week we will start learning about spring and all the wonderful things that come with it (flowers, sun, bugs, etc.). Big Bears will have the chance to plant a seed and watch it grow with the help of sun and water; with this activity they will have magical memories.

Please make sure all of your child’s sweaters and jackets are labeled to avoid mix-ups. Also, we kindly ask you to don’t send your kids to the kinder with toys or other distractions.

I’m a Little Ladybug

I’m a little ladybug on the go,

Landing on an arm, than an elbow,

See me fly around and around your hand,

Then watch as on your thumb I land.

Take me out to the airport”.

Muchas Gracias,
