People In Our Community

Dear Parents,

Kids have learned so much about community helpers! This week we talked about firefighters, hairdressers, and garbage collectors. During art we usually make theme related projects, for that reason the kids pasted some trash on a piece of paper. They are learning to use glue with a brush and although some still have trouble they are doing pretty well. We also made a firefighter helmet which they enjoyed! The visit from the Firefighters on Wednesday was definitely the highlight for this week. Finally, we pretended to be in a beauty salon and they had the chance of role playing as a hair dresser. The kids got so excited!!!

Next week we will be going to the airport, and we will learn about the different forms of transportation. We have a great week coming ahead!

Enjoy your weekend!
Miss Lucia and Miss Vero

Firefighters come to Toddler Tree

We had our firefighter’s visit this week and the kids experienced climbing on the firetruck and holding the water hose to spread water on the street. They were really excited! We also made tortillas with maseca, and they loved it. Next week we will be covering the topics of air, water and land transportation.

In our creative department, this week we are going to work with the following:

Techniques: painting, pasting, cutting, inserting, folding, molding and drawing.

Media: foamy, paint, paper rolls, straw, Styrofoam, play doh, tooth pick and cloth clips.

Concepts: paste, paint, insert, front and back, up and down

Vocabulary: helicopter, airplane, car, pilot, airport, sky, water, boat, up and down, high

Here are some recent pictures of our classroom activities:

February Week 3

Dear Parents,

The kid’s enjoyed the visit from the Fire Fighters. All of them had a chance to hold the water hose and experienced the sensation of pouring a large amount of water. We also had Ms. Gaby and Ms. Efo role play using the complete fire fighter suit, watching how they performed made us conscious of the great effort these community helpers do for all of us. This we week we started doing really nice creative projects that will be used for next week’s “adventures”.

On Tuesday – Feb 26th we will have another important field trip. All of the Big Bears and Terrific Tigers (ACCOMPANIED BY ONE OF THEIR PARENTS) will have the chance to visit the Aeropuerto Del Norte. We are sure this visit will make our Big Bears have an extraordinary time.

Next week, we will start learning about different types of transportation. Big Bears will learn several characteristics of each one of them. As a group we will make a paper boat and watch if it “sails”. The rhyme that will be learned during this week is named “Take me out to the airport (Tune: Take me out to the ball game)”.

Please make sure all of your child’s sweaters and jackets are labeled to avoid mix-ups.

Have a great weekend.

Thank you,

Ms. Caya & Ms. Yayis

Take me out to the Airport (Melodía: Take me out to the Ball Game)”.

Por favor, asegúrese de que todos los suéteres y abrigos de sus hijos están etiquetados para evitar confusiones.

Esperemos que disfruten el fin de semana.

Muchas Gracias,

Ms. Caya & Ms. Yayis

Community Helpers

We had a great week! The class talked about different community helpers and we even had the fire fighters visit on Wednesday. We got a chance to climb on the firetruck, hold the water hose and talk to the fire fighters. It was a great day!

Here are some pictures from the Firefighters and Rescue Team visit:

Next week we’ll be talking about means of transportation and we’ll be able to recognize the different ways to move them.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! See you on Monday!
